The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), University of Manitoba, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering at the Assistant Professor rank. The successful applicant should be able to take up the position by January 1, 2025. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Applicants are encouraged to self-identify aspects of their identity that position them to bring currently under-represented viewpoints, expertise and forms of excellence to this role.

The successful applicant must hold an earned Ph.D. in a field relevant to the areas of interest specified below and be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba. Applicants must have a demonstrated record of research success, and the potential for developing an impactful externally funded research program which will provide an inclusive and equity-based environment for the supervision of a diverse group of graduate students.

The search committee will be particularly interested to review applications that demonstrate research plans that will develop fundamental work eligible for funding from the major relevant Canadian agencies such as NSERC. The research statement is expected to demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following sub-fields: Systems (autonomous, distributed, embedded, mechatronic, or power), Controls (embedded, power, or robotic), Applied Computational Science (algorithms, electromagnetics, modelling, or power), Electronics (analog, RF, or industrial), and Sensors (smart, biomedical, or RF). Applicants will demonstrate their ability or potential for high quality undergraduate and graduate teaching, proficiency in oral and written communication, and the ability to engage with a diverse audience. It is expected that the successful applicant will be able to teach courses at the undergraduate level within Electrical and Computer Engineering, taking their share of teaching in the core of our programs. In particular, the search committee will be most interested to review applications that demonstrate expertise and interest in teaching in one or more of: Computer Engineering Hardware, Controls, Electronics.

At the graduate level, the successful applicant will be expected to supervise students and teach graduate courses within the ECE Department that is home to approximately 200 graduate students pursuing either the Ph.D. or M.Sc. degree.
