Who We Are

Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation (the Corporation) is the deposit guarantor and primary regulator for Saskatchewan provincially regulated credit unions and SaskCentral (together, Provincially Regulated Financial Institutions or PRFIs).

The Corporation instills confidence in the province’s credit union system with a mandate of:

  • Establishing regulatory standards and ensuring PRFIs are performing to those standards
  • Promoting responsible governance by PRFIs, and contributing to the strength and stability of the credit union system
  • Directing PRFIs to take action on material deficiencies, and any issue that may put depositors’ funds at risk
  • Maintaining and managing a guarantee fund in a sound and prudent manner
  • Guaranteeing the repayment of deposits in Saskatchewan credit unions

Call for Nominations

The Selection Committee is seeking two qualified candidates to serve on the Corporation’s Board of Directors, each for a three-year term.

The Board provides strategic leadership and governance oversight for the Corporation. Directors contribute to setting organizational direction, overseeing risk and performance, establishing policy, and supporting the long-term success of the organization.

Board appointments are made using a competency-based selection process. Candidates are evaluated based on the Board’s current needs and the skills, knowledge, and experience required to strengthen effective governance and decision-making.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of relevant skills, experience, education, personal qualities, and perspectives that support the Board’s effectiveness. This year, particular consideration will be given to candidates with strong financial acumen gained through credit union experience. Experience in Information technology or digital transformation would be an asset.

To be eligible, a candidate must not have been employed in the public service of Saskatchewan or by a Crown corporation, or associated with a credit union, or SaskCentral within the previous 12 months. Preference will be given to current or former Saskatchewan residents.

The Corporation values the unique skills, experience, and perspectives that everyone brings to the board. Diversity of board composition is a consideration.
