Employment Position

Junior level Intern Architect or Designer

Moriyama Teshima Architects (MTA) is a team of architects, planners and designers collaborating with clients to build inspiring and enduring spaces that transform communities and reinforce civic identity. The firm offers services in architecture, master planning and urban design, interior design and program development.

MTA's extensive portfolio of Canadian and international projects covers museums and art galleries, university buildings, schools, corporate and government headquarters, community buildings, libraries, restoration and renovation projects, and urban/campus planning. In recent years our firm has focused on sustainable design and particularly on mass timber construction and has grown our portfolio of projects built in collaboration with Canada’s Indigenous peoples. With a long-standing core of design traditions that continue to define the practice, our studio is made up of individuals who reflect the cultural diversity that defines our global present: a combination of industry leaders and young designers working together to design and deliver exceptional projects.

Our headquarters are in Toronto, with a second office in Ottawa. This Junior level Intern Architect or Designer position could be based in either office, or potentially work in the Atlantic region. While our work is primarily focused in Canada, we also complete significant projects internationally. Learn more about our practice and portfolio at www.mtarch.com.

With this posting we are seeking a Junior level Intern Architect or Designer  with 5+ years of experience to contribute as a vital team member, assisting with all phases of our varied projects. We are looking for a candidate that can demonstrate both strong design skills and high technical competency. Scope of work will vary according to the skill level and experience of the candidate, as well as project assignments.

MTA is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.  As part of our commitment to reconciliation and to improving employment opportunities for Indigenous people, preference may be given to qualified candidates who self-identify as First Nations, Metis, or Inuit.

We encourage applicants to self-identify in their application if they wish to be considered for this initiative.  All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply and will be considered in accordance with applicable human rights legislation.
