Operations & Membership Manager – 1 year contract, with possibility of extension

 

Location:  Remote

Job Status: Full-time, contract  

Compensation:    $60, 000.00 - $70,000.00

The Indigenous Professional Association of Canada is dedicated to advancing Indigenous

leadership in the private, public and social sectors. IPAC serves its members through professional skill building, network development and the recognition of excellence. 

As part of the IPAC team, the Operations & Membership Manager plays a central role in strengthening the organization’s programs, partnerships, and membership engagement. Reporting to the IPAC Board, the Operations & Membership Manager oversees membership growth initiatives, partnerships and sponsorship development, programming delivery, and event execution while managing operational support staff, including the Communications & Social Media Trainee.

The Operations & Membership Manager will help drive IPAC’s continued growth by building strong partnerships, expanding programming offerings, and ensuring meaningful engagement opportunities for members throughout the year. This role requires a highly self-motivated, accountable, and goal-oriented professional who can work independently, manage multiple priorities, and drive initiatives forward at IPAC.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

General Operations & Membership

  • Lead initiatives to increase overall IPAC membership and member retention.
  • Oversee membership engagement strategies and ensure programming offerings support member needs throughout the year.
  • Monitor membership trends and recommend strategies to strengthen participation and value.
  • Support operational processes related to membership services, partnerships, and programming delivery such as webinars and lunch and learns and the job board.
  • Ensure IPAC’s job board is actively maintained and managed, and ensure timely oversight and management of invoicing and payments. 

Partnerships & Sponsorship Development

  • Identify, develop, and secure sponsorship and partnership opportunities aligned with IPAC’s mission and programming.
  • Build and maintain relationships with corporate, public sector, and community partners.
  • Ensure sponsorship commitments are fulfilled across events, communications, and programming initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with partners to expand opportunities benefiting members.

Event & Programming Leadership

  • Lead planning and execution of IPAC’s in-person events, networking gatherings, and professional development programming.
  • Coordinate event logistics, vendor relationships, sponsorship deliverables, and event promotion in collaboration with communications support.
  • Ensure programming is active and engaging throughout the year, supporting professional growth and community connection.
  • Evaluate event and program effectiveness and recommend improvements.

Staff & Communications Coordination

  • Manage and support the Communications & Social Media Trainee in executing communications, social media, and marketing initiatives.
  • Collaborate on communications priorities related to events, membership growth, and partner recognition, such as the website and monthly newsletter.
  • Ensure operational priorities align with communications and marketing strategies.

Education and Experience:

We recognize the value of diverse educational experiences including cultural, academic, work, and lived experience. We encourage those who closely match the qualifications listed below to apply:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in business administration, nonprofit management, communications, event management, or a related field.
  • Experience in operations, program management, partnership development, or event planning.
  • Experience working with Indigenous organizations, communities, or initiatives is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects or programs involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous communities, cultures, and professional networks is considered an asset.
