I negotiate and draft commercial agreements.
Why did you start working in your industry?
I have always been interested in the energy industry. It is a crucial industry with dynamic opportunities and challenges.
What do you enjoy the most about your job? What aspect makes you learn the most while on the job?
The problem solving aspects of my job are excellent. I enjoy the people I work with and the companies culture.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Advancing up in my companies ranks. Taking on more responsibilities.
What does success look like to you?
Achieving goals you set for yourself and from the people around you while moving obstacles that are placed in front of you to achieve those goals.
What has been the most outstanding moment thus far in your career?
Working with indigenous communities to bring their concerns and interest to the forefront.
Do you volunteer? If so, where and why is that important to you?
Yes, I sit on the board of Native Child and Family Services of Toronto. I also coach baseball.
Do you have any advice for other Indigenous professionals in Canada?
Work hard, take chances and don’t be afraid to challenge the status quo.
What do you think is the most unique challenge for an Indigenous person in your industries?
There is a tenuous balance between energy production and indigenous interests. Maintaining that balance can be challenging but there are good people working hard to maintain that balance.
What made you interested in joining the Indigenous Professional Association of Canada and why would you encourage others to join?
I believe IPAC is an important network because connecting Indigenous Professionals creates opportunities that may have not existed before.
