Commons (Library) serves as the heart of our community, providing a space for students, faculty, and staff to
engage, discover, and grow.

The Learning Commons (Library) Co-ordinator, Junior School, oversees the daily programming and
operations of the Learning Commons area for our Junior School, focusing on creating a welcoming
environment that is conducive to learning. They collaborate with community members to co-create resource
guides and recommend resource materials to faculty and students. Collaborating with other Learning
Commons staff, they identify the necessary information technology competencies and information literacy
skills and work with faculty to weave those skills into student curriculum aligned learning. The LC Co-
ordinator works in a procedural, consensus-building manner with faculty, students, parents, and staff in
keeping with the school’s vision, mission and values.

What You'll Do:

● Engages students with care and enthusiasm, supporting reading selection.
● Supports student-centered programming like read-alouds, reading circles, and book selection.
● Assists students in developing research skills and selecting appropriate resources.
● Promotes access to all library resources, print and digital.
● Provides reader’s advisory and promotes recreational reading.
● Collaborates with faculty to support student inquiry and information literacy.
● Manages periodical subscriptions and collaborates on selection.
● Assists patrons with information needs and manages circulation tasks.
● Oversees library space, showcases student work, and organizes events.
● Maintains library materials, manages inventory, and promotes information literacy and digital
citizenship.

Who You Are:

● Graduate of a Library Technician Program with an emphasis on media and digital literacies
● Experience working with students aged 3 to 12
● Competence in the effective use of online Library databases and other digital and online resources
● Keen interest in and understanding of emerging technologies
● Advanced familiarity with library OPACs (Destiny) is an asset
● Physical ability to perform shelving duties
● A growth mindset of continuous improvement and learning
● Culturally competent with a positive attitude toward cultural uniqueness and a readiness to accept
and respect others
● Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and
learning environment
