Description

Baycrest is a global leader in senior’s residential living, health care, research, innovation and education, with a special focus on brain health and aging. One of the world’s top research institutes in cognitive neuroscience, and an academic health science centre fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, Baycrest provides an exemplary care experience for older persons combined with an extensive clinical training program for students and established healthcare professionals. Through its commercial and consulting arms, Baycrest is providing its sought-after expertise and innovations to other health care and senior living organizations, both in Canada and internationally.

As Baycrest works towards justice and equity across its communities by intentionally identifying and eliminating active and passive forms of discrimination and oppression, they are seeking a Director of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion to lead these efforts.

Reporting to the Vice President Corporate Human Resources, Director, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion leads Baycrest on all subject matters related to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (“EDI”). With high levels of collaboration and visibility, the Director works to facilitate an integrated approach to tackling EDI challenges, connecting those across Baycrest internally, but also builds relationships and connections with external partners and agencies. Working across Baycrest’s seven entities (“families”) to lead and enable organizational growth, the Director serves as Baycrest’s champion for EDI strategic initiatives and long-term plans. The Director works with leadership, management, stakeholders, and HR colleagues to drive change initiatives and EDI-related communications and initiatives throughout the organization and to foster an inclusive and supportive environment for equity-deserving and all members of the Baycrest community. The Director works to embed EDI into every aspect of Baycrest’s culture and operations and facilitates learning opportunities for staff to grow awareness and competency. The incumbent develops and implements tracking strategies, metrics, monitoring, and reporting systems to effectively benchmark organizational progress across Baycrest and the sector. The Director monitors best practices and current legislation and, where required, guides Baycrest through necessary administrative changes.

As the ideal candidate, you are a dynamic leader with progressive experience and accomplishments advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in a complex organization. Supported by your academic, professional, and/or lived expertise, you capably and confidently partner with senior management to better understand how to align leaders around EDI objectives, and have a proven track record of successfully developing, implementing, and assessing EDI strategies, initiatives, and programs. You are an activator with strong organization skills, readily able to translate big picture thinking into operational details in order to move things forward. You are comfortable dealing with ambiguity and a complex, multi-stakeholder environment where you expertly navigate competing priorities. You are curious, adaptive, courageous, creative, kind, innovative, empathetic, and an outstanding communicator who creates and sustains inclusive workplace cultures. You are a change-agent with good judgement and negotiating skills. Your experience and/or interest in healthcare and/or neuroscience is considered an asset. You have completed post secondary education in a relevant field (equity studies, disability studies, or related discipline) or equivalent experience.
